REVIEW: Mayday Parade Mesh Their Sound Old And New In New Album Sunnyland

Mayday Parade released their sixth studio release Sunnyland on June 15. This is their first release since signing to Rise Records earlier this year.

The Tallahassee natives mesh their sound old and new in this record. The album starts out energetic with “Never Sure” and “It’s Hard to be Religious When Certain People Are Never Incinerated By Bolts of Lightning” which go back to A Lesson In Romantics era sound.

Sunnyland shows the more heartfelt and emotionally gutting parts of this band with tracks like “Piece of Your Heart” and “Always Leaving” going back to their roots like their album Anywhere But Here.

Throughout the album it flows between energetic and acoustic-like tracks ending with the title track “Sunnyland” that sums up the maturity and growth of this band.
